Valentine's Day in my city is a frenzied event, not unlike 3 p.m. on December 24 or 9 p.m. on December 31. And OHMIGOD the radio stations have somehow dug up all their collections of love songs since Pat Boone and Frank Sinatra and would play them by chronology, up until Debbie Gibson and Westlife. Airtime became exclusively-lovesongs-only since February 11 and I was gagging by the time February 14 came around. I promised myself: I will boycott Valentine's Day. I will boycott Valentine's Day. I WILL BOYCOTT VALENTINE'S DAY. Then she came to the office with some greasy food she bought from a fastfood and we talked in whispers about how much we love each other. Yup. I am boycotting Valentine's Day.
